My dear dear friend…
Words cannot adequately describe what I felt when I got the news of your passing.
As a Muslim, I will continue to give thanks to the Almighty for giving her to us but it doesn’t take away the sadness of knowing she is no longer with us.
I called her “Aderinde” to tease her. She took it on the chin and it became a pet name between us. We fought often and would make up without a 3rd person. She was an exceptional human being.
She loved her late Dad to pieces! I only needed to mention him and no matter how bad she felt – she would smile or laugh… A true Daddy’s girl.
She was feisty. Sincere. Selfless to a fault.
With Denrele, what you saw was what you would get. She loved with all her heart. Didn’t hold grudges for long. Generous to a near fault – if you complimented something she had on, she was quick to remove it and gift you.
She gave of herself so freely and willingly. Rarely ever complained about anything. And this sometimes left her open to be taken advantage of.
Her signature iro and buba. She showed me how to make my iro and buba sassy!
I could go on and on.
She was my friend. A real friend.
She was a gift to me. And I am sure she was the same to many others.
May The Good Lord shine His eternal light on her. May He grant her paradise. May He bless the family with the fortitude to bear her loss.
I will miss you ‘Denrele.
Rest in perfect beautiful peace.
Ameen.
